ERROR CODE = -40 is a Nexon Game Manager (NGM) error that typically occurs when the installation process is blocked or interrupted for a large variety of reasons. -40 errors can only occure when installing.
The first set of numbers within the parentheses are assumed to be an internal error code, and has not yet been identified.
The second number within the parentheses is a Windows system error code.

Clear cache and temporary filesEdit
NGM utilizes temporary folders during installation and patching.
There may be an unknown conflict. Clear your temporary internet files for Internet Explorer, re-boot your PC, and try installing again.
Antivirus or firewallEdit
Your anti-virus, firewall, or other security programs may be blocking NGM from working correctly.
Although you may have made an exception for NGM in the past, it is possible that an update changed enough so that it is no longer recognized by your security software.
For troubleshooting purposes, temporarily disable such programs as a test to see if there is a setting that needs to be adjusted for NGM to run properly. Do this even if you have added NGM to the exception or ignore list, as you may have overlooked something.
If disabling worked, it is recommended that you properly add NGM to the exceptions or ignore list for that security program.
It may be possible that a background process or service is conflicting with NGM.
Please use the Clean Startup procedure to troubleshoot any potential conflicts.
The NGM may have been corrupted or damaged. You can reinstall the NGM files in an attempt to fix the problem.
For Windows XP: Edit
- Navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NexonUS" in Windows Explorer
For Windows 7 / Vista: Edit
- Navigate to "C:\ProgramData\NexonUS" in Windows Explorer
- Delete the NGM folder
- Re-Install NGM from this download:
